I can't believe how well organised we all are this year. here's the link to the box office for my fringe show at St. Bride's...

I'm so excited to announce that the amazing Jane Siberry is coming back to Edinburgh, 3 years after her last salons here, and I'll be doing the support slot for her at St. Philip's Church on 27th April.  Details will soon be on gigs page.

I'm also chuffed that the lovely Iain Anderson played one of my songs on last Wednesday's show which you can still catch on BBC Radio Scotland Iplayer if you're quick.  His show is such an interesting mix of music; you never quite know what will be played next (although Neil Young is often a good bet and that's fine with me!)

There's lots of other exciting stuff in the pipeline but you'll have to wait a bit longer for news of that.  In the meantime, make the most of the unseasonally good weather - I know that I am :)

Well slap my wrist and call me a bad girl! I've just realised that I've not done a blog entry for such a long time, the last one has grown mouldy.

Here we are in a new year, actually quite old now, and it may look as if I've done nothing since October but in fact there's been loads of stuff happening. Where to begin?

Well, first off, I'm now running a new open mic night in Portobello's lovely Skylark (details on gigs page) on the first Monday of the month and that's growing into a great night with a really diverse range of musically talented people as well as a hugely appreciative audience; all served up in a lovely environment with friendly staff, good food and a comprehensive range of things to drink. What's not to like?

A quick update on my request for Marcus to get in touch (see blog dated 16th October) – he has and we've been in contact, this time I've not deleted his email address!

There are so many things that have been happening that I can't possibly write about them all here. Suffice to say that these include a new venue for Stuart and I in the New Town Bar, several festivals, and the usual gigs in some of our favourite places. Thinking of new material for the National Portrait Gallery gig is always challenging and lots of fun.

I'm learning to play the piano and hoping to do some recording this year of new material (about time too, I know).

Sadly, for the time being, the guestbook is out of commission as it was being absolutely hammered by computer generated hacking which overloaded the system. So, I'm really sorry that it's not available just now but I'm sure that Martin will figure out a way to deal with it. I really like having a guestbook and particularly enjoyed the fact that you could post your comments up on it. In the meantime, please email me if you have any questions or comments.

You can actually join me on Facebook too and I do visit there and post on that with a little bit more regularity than I write this blog!

Until the next time, adios amigos, and have a great February.

just back from the last holiday of the year. Enough sympathy.... stop!!! We did a little gig in a really interesting new venue, Bisart, and have been asked back again for next year as well as being asked to play in Cadouin during the summer as a result of that gig. All good :)

A bit remiss of me but I'd just like to briefly say how much we all enjoyed our Fringe gig again in St. Bride's to another capacity audience. It's lovely to have such an international crowd; you never know who you might meet at these events.

Dunbar too was a most enjoyable festival and we were thrilled to meet many people who'd travelled a long way to hear us.

For me one of the main things about playing live music is that everyone enjoys themselves and this seems to be the case, so we must be doing something right!

I have to say I'm really looking forward to resuming an open mic night and the new venue, The Skylark, (see the gig page for details) has an excellent ambience. Can't wait.

Stuart and I are also playing some other interesting gigs this month so please check them out too.

Until the next time...

Here's an odd blog entry...

I got a lovely email from Marcus from Austria who had been at the recent gigs in Dunbar and bought CDs.

Thing is, I was in the process of replying to him when I unintentionally deleted his email! Dopey or what?

Marcus, if you're out there (or if anyone else knows him), DO email me again. I promise I won't delete the thing this time! (I hope!)

Sheepishly yours!

ps: I'm doing an unexpected gig on Thursday here in France - details on the gigs page.

A very quick update for you all!

I'm now going to be hosting a monthly open mic night on the first Monday of each month, starting on the 5th November at the Skylark, 241-243 Portobello High Street, Edinburgh from 9pm.

Their number is 0131 629 3037 and their website is www.theskylarkportobello.com.

Bring an instrument, bring a friend, bring yourself, but whatever else you do, enjoy the music!

See you soon!
